The Dickson practice welcomes all clients, including:

  • Persons desiring virtual consultations, to suit their schedules and infection prevention concerns.
  • Working parents and students, who wish to consult with doctors after hours or on weekends.
  • Tourists or people visiting in Cape Town.
  • LGBTQIA+ persons and families.
  • Disabled and special needs families. 

The practise provides services for most needs and conditions, including:

  • Separation & divorce mental & family wellness support.
  • Pregnancy, cholesterol, urine, HIV, haemoglobin, blood sugar, ECG & blood pressure testing (on site).
  • Well woman screening, PAP smears & family planning advice. In rooms Mirena and Kyleena IUCD insertions.
  • Immunisation (Influenza, cervical cancer prevention, Tetanus, Hepatitis A & B, Pneumococcus, Meningitis, Yellow Fever, Typhoid, childhood vaccines)
  • Public Driving Permits (PDP’s), SA Immigration Medicals (Chest X-Ray request forms provided)
  • Insurance Medical examinations (Including Stress ECG, but excluding Lung Function testing)
  • Wound Care, wound stitching, taping and removal of stitches.
  • Rehydration, nebulisation.
  • Baby weighing & breast feeding / weaning advice
  • Childhood illnesses
  • Hypertension/Diabetes /Asthma Care
  • Minor trauma & injuries
  • Cancer Care (in collaboration with the treating surgeon/oncologist/radiation therapist)
  • Before and after Transplantation (in collaboration with the treating nephrologist/physician)
  • Cardiac risk stratification & modification.
  • TB/HIV/ARV screening and treatment (in collaboration with referral and treating clinics).

Our Hours

The practice is open Mondays to Fridays from morning to early evenings, and certain periods of weekend time, by appointment (by Time centre app or WhatsApp only).

Appointments

Appointments are scheduled for 15 minutes in duration. 

Telephonic, Zoom or WhatsApp consultations are charged for as a full consultation.

Repeat Scripts

Novel, accessible and personable healthcare, at affordable rates.

We charge R150 for repeat scripts and R300 for virtual consultations.
Clients settle directly with the practise on the day of service via EFT.

We are contracted into the major medical aids (such as Discovery, Momentum, GEMS and Medscheme) and charge medical aid rates, as set out by the BHF for that year. We bill medical aids directly and get reimbursed by them.

Any fees from recommended Laboratory and radiology tests are separate from the practice and they need to be settled with the lab or department directly, please.

House-calls are undertaken for existing clients with special needs and are quoted at R800 for local clients and R1 600 for overseas visitor clients, excluding procedures and consumables used. Credit card machine facilities can be brought to the home.

Emergencies

THE PRACTISE PROVIDES VIRTUAL SERVICES FOR MOST DAY TO DAY AND CHRONIC NEEDS AND CONDITIONS. FOR ACUTELY ILL OR VERY SICK PATIENTS, PLEASE ATTEND YOUR NEAREST APPROPRIATE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY.

In an emergency, the practice would advise you to please call 082 124 (ER24) or 082 911 (Netcare 911) for an ambulance if you are medically aided, or 10177 for a Metro Ambulance if you are not.

For medically aided patients, we usually refer emergencies to Vincent Pallotti (in Pinelands) or Christiaan Barnard Memorial (in town central) Hospitals. Non medically aided patients attend the state facility in their residential drainage area, which are usually Victoria (in Wynberg) or Groote Schuur (in Observatory) Hospitals.

Please attend these facilities with your ID book, medical aid or clinic card, current medications and any prior letters, reports or recent medical investigation information.

Please advise the practice of any hospital admissions or significant health incidents, so that we might amend your notes accordingly and follow up your progress.
